If you are about to embark on a Kashmir tour, you are probably wondering what sort of attractions you are likely to be shown throughout your journey. Because the region is so beautiful (it has actually earned the name ‘Switzerland of the East’). There are so many different things to see that it is unlikely you will have time to visit them all.

Kashmir Valley Tour
  • Dal Lake-
This is one of the most beautiful lakes in India and is actually the second largest in state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is encircled by mountains on three sides and the banks are decked up with blooming Mughal gardens and orchards.
  • Jama Masjid-
This is one of the most important mosques in Srinagar and was built in 1400AD by Sultan Sikander. The beautiful architecture of mosque draws large visitors to Kashmir tours. On Fridays, the mosque is filled with thousands of Muslims who come to offer prayers.
  • Shalimar Garden-
This garden was constructed by Emperor Jehangir for his wife in 1616. Also known as the ‘garden of love’, it is a sprawling 539 metres by 182 metres in size. From May to October, a light and sound show is arranged every evening.
  • Martand Sun Temple-
The temple is dedicated to Lord Bhaskkar, the Sun God, and was built by King Lalitaditya. It comprises 84 pillars and its location on a plateau provides visitors with a beautiful view of the Kashmir valley below.

There are, of course, a number of other attractions that your Kashmir tour could take you to ( such asChashmashahi, Nagin Lake, Shankaracharya Hill, Hazratbal and Dachigm National Park); the few that we have outlined above tend to be rated as some of the best attractions in the area. Even if your tour doesn’t take you to some of these destinations, you should visit them yourself!
