Jaisalmer as a city has a lot to offer. We will try to cover as much as is possible in a day. Some of the Must Visit places are:

Jaisalmer Fort: It is a massive sandcastle rising from the sandy plains like a mirage from a bygone era. Jaisalmer’s unique fort is a living urban centre, with about 3000 people residing within its walls. It’s honeycombed with narrow, winding lanes, lined with houses and temples – along with a large number of handicraft shops, guesthouses and restaurants.

Patwa ki Haveli: Its an interesting piece of Architecture and is the most important among the havelis in Jaisalmer. This is precisely because of two things, first that it was the first haveli erected in Jaisalmer and second, that it is not a single haveli but a cluster of 5 small havelis. This is the largest Haveli in Jaisalmer and stands in a narrow lane.

Tilon Ki Pol: The attractive 14th-century Tilon-ki-Pol gateway that straddles the road down to Gadi Sagar is said to have been built by a famous prostitute. When she offered to pay to have it constructed, the maharawal refused permission on the grounds that he would have to pass under it to go down to the tank, which would be beneath his dignity. While he was away, she built the gate anyway, adding a Krishna temple on top so the king could not tear it down.

Day 6: Jaisalmer to Jodhpur

The total distance to be covered today is 305 Kms, and the saddle time is 7 hours. We will take a detour from Pokhran and cross Osian on our way to Jodhpur.

Osian: The ancient Thar Desert town of Osian, was dominated by the Jains. Osian today is inhabited mostly by Brahmins – most of the houses here are painted blue. The finely carved ancient temples of Osian are a must see spot.

Jodhpur: The city is known as the "Sun City" for the bright, sunny weather it enjoys all the year round. The old city circles the fort and is bounded by a wall with several gates. Jodhpur is also known as "Blue City" for the blue color on the houses in the old city area. Jodhpur is a popular tourist destination, featuring many palaces, forts and temples, set in the stark landscape of the Thar Desert.

Today, we will cover a distance of 185 Kms, and the saddle time would be 4 hours. On our way to Ranakpur, We will stop at the Om Banna temple which is just 45 Kms out of Jodhpur and we will also visit Kumbalgarh fort before stopping at Ranakpur.

Kumbalgarh Fort: Kumbhalgarh Fort is a Mewar fortress on the westerly range of Aravalli Hills, in the Rajsamand district near Udaipur of Rajasthan state in western India. It is a World Heritage Site included in Hill Forts of Rajasthan. With a wall over 38 km long, the fort is the second largest wall in the world after the Great Wall of China and the second largest fort in Rajasthan after Chittorgarh Fort. The journey to the fort, along twisting roads through the Aravalli Hills, is a highlight in itself.

Ranakpur: Ranakpur is one of India’s biggest and most important Jain temple complexes. Top Sights in Ranakpur is Chaumukha Mandir (Temple), an incredible feature of Jain devotion, it is a complicated series of 29 halls, 80 domes and 1444 individually engraved pillars.

Day 8: Ranakpur to Udaipur

Today, we have a much relaxed ride. The distance to be covered is 100 Kms, and the saddle time would be 3 hrs.

Udaipur: Udaipur is dominated by the sprawling city palace that hugs the eastern shoreline of Udaipur’s centre piece, Lake Pichola. Udaipur with its lakes lies on the south slope of the Aravalli Range in Rajasthan. The Northern part of the district consists generally of elevated plateaus, while the eastern part has vast stretches of fertile plains.

Top Sights in Udaipur are Lake Pichola, Bagore Ki Haveli, City Palace and Jagdish Temple

Day 9: Udaipur sightseeing

Beside shimmering Lake Pichola, with the ochre and purple ridges of the wooded Aravalli Hills stretching away in every direction, Udaipur has a romance of setting unmatched in Rajasthan and arguably in all India. Fantastical palaces, temples, havelis and countless narrow, crooked, colourful streets add the human counterpoint to the city’s natural charms.

Some of the Must Visit places in Udaipur are:

Lake Pichola: Lake Pichola, situated in Udaipur city is an artificial fresh water lake, created in the year 1362 AD, named after the nearby Picholi village. Lake Palace (formerly known as Jag Niwas) is a luxury hotel located on the island of Jag Niwas in Lake Pichola.

Bagore ki Haveli: Bagore-ki-Haveli is a haveli in Udaipur in Rajasthan state in India. It is right on the waterfront of Lake Pichola at Gangori Ghat. The palace has over a hundred rooms, with displays of costumes and modern art. The glass and mirror in the interiors are Haveli work. It also preserves an example of Mewar painting on the walls of the Queen's Chamber. The two peacocks made from small pieces of colored glasses are examples of glasswork.

City Palace: Udaipur City Palace is one of the architectural marvels of Rajasthan, located peacefully on the banks of Lake Pichola. City Palace boasts of the wonderful blend of Medieval, European and Chinese Architecture. The Palace has various towers, domes and arches, which add to the flavor of heritage site. The stories of valour and sacrifice of Rana Pratap Singh and his struggle to save his Kingdom are unmatched in the World. The Padmini’s Palace and the evening sound and light shows are good things to see.

Day 11: Chittorgarh to Jaipur

Today, we ride to Jaipur, Rajasthan’s capital. Distance to be travelled is 320 Kms and the saddle time would be 7 hrs.

Jaipur: Jaipur is an enthralling historical city and the gateway to India’s most flamboyant state. At city’s heart, the City palace continues to house the former royal family. Top Sights in Jaipur: Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, Colorful Bazaars, Amber Fort, City Palace and Nahargarh Fort.

The planned city of Jaipur was the political centre of a princely state in pre-independence India, and is now the capital of Rajasthan. Be it a cluster of majestic temples amidst the Aravallis or palatial forts that once protected the city boundaries, the pink city is home to a range of accessible heritage sites and grand monuments. Some of the Must Visit Places in Jaipur are :-

Amber Fort: This hilltop fort complex lies on the dusty Aravalli hill range, 11 km outside Jaipur. It was the capital of the Rajputs for 700 years and the original residence of the royal family, before Jaipur was constructed. Built in a combination of Hindu and Islamic architectural elements, it encloses pretty palaces, imposing gates and several official buildings. These are decorated with wall murals, carvings, and mirror and glass work. This magnificent fort is largely made up of a royal palace, built from pale yellow and pink sandstone and white marble, and divided into four main sections, each with its own courtyard.

The outer wall was built by Jai Singh, but within it the palace has been enlarged and adapted over the centuries. Nahargarh Fort: Reminiscent of Jaipur’s royal past, the 18th-century Nahargarh Fort once formed a strong defence for the city of Jaipur. A walk through its massive gates, beautifully-crafted temples and large courtyards will transport you back in the time of the maharajas.
