Enjoy the wonderful heritage of Amritsar, Delhi, Agra and Rajasthan. Your guided North India tour will vary from the drama and intense atmosphere of the daily ceremony at the Attari Wagah border through to the serene beauty of the palace of the lakes in Udaipur. You will view historical remains dating back to the 4th Century and also get the chance to enjoy the markets and shopping of contemporary India. Enjoy a wide breadth of cuisine from Indian street food (your guide will advise you) through to more exotic local delights. Western cuisine is also available should you prefer this option at any time.

Travel:

Where possible, travel by air is included for the longer transfers, otherwise it is by car. At all locations you will be provided with a chauffeured vehicle. If you have flown to your destination your driver will be waiting for you outside airport arrivals. He will carry a sign with your name on it. Viktorianz will also provide you with the name and phone number of your driver beforehand. The driver and vehicle will be at your disposal throughout the day and evening.

Guides:

You will be provided with a knowledgeable, English speaking, guide for each of your destinations. The guide will be government approved so will have access to all the tourist sites.

This is an eleven day tour as outlined in the itinerary below. We can, however, modify the tour as you want so please contact us with any changes you would like.

Day 1: Arrive Delhi

Arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. Meet our Viktorianz representative who will give you the latest copy of your itinerary, and answer any final questions you have. Transfer to your hotel in Delhi Airport. (Most flights from abroad arrive late at night or the early hours of the morning.)

Day 2: Delhi to Amritsar

After breakfast at the hotel leave for the airport in time to take your flight to Amritsar where your driver will be waiting for you. Transfer to the hotel in Amritsar. After check in, freshen up and leave for the Beating Retreat Ceremony at Attari Wagah border. The ceremony starts at sunset (around 4:30 in winters & 5:30 in summers) and you would take about an hour to reach. It is worth getting there early to get seats and allow time for the security checks.

Day 3: Amritsar Sightseeing

Rise at 5 a.m. and visit the Golden Temple. This is a magical time to visit as you arrive before dawn and can view the lit up temple, and the worshipers, in darkness and then remain as the sun rises. Return to the hotel for breakfast.

There are two alternatives to this: you can rise even earlier to witness Prabhat Pheri - The Sri Guru Granth Sahib arrival, or leave your visit until after breakfast.

After visiting the Golden temple continue your guided tour with the following stops:

Jallianwala Bagh – Now a remembrance garden, this is the site of the infamous Amritsar massacre where British troops under the command of Colonel Dyer fired on unarmed protesters.

Gobindgarh Fort - Built in the year 1706, the fort was later restored by Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

Return to your hotel. Have dinner in the hotel or, a better option, we can recommend a local restaurant and your driver can take you there.

Day 4: Amritsar to Udaipur via Delhi

After breakfast at the hotel leave for the airport for your flight to Delhi. With your guide visit the Delhi architectural park where there is a fascinating range of over one hundred monuments and buildings dating back to the 4th Century. These include the world famous Qutub Minar - which is a 73 m high tower of victory, built in 1193 by Qutab-ud-din Aibak and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the beautiful step well Rajon Ki Baoli.

Return to Delhi airport to catch your internal flight to Udaipur - the most attractive of the Rajputana princely states, it used to be the capital of erstwhile Mewar Kingdom. Udaipur has beautiful lakes and is popularly known as the ‘Lake City’ or ‘Venice of the East’. On arrival at Udaipur, transfer to your hotel.

Day 5: Udaipur Sightseeing

After breakfast, start your tour as there are many wonderful things to see. Visit the City Palace for a glimpse into Udaipur’s regal past. The largest palace complex in Rajasthan, it impresses with its sheer size and spectacular views out over Pichola Lake. Take a boat ride on Lake Pichola and stop off at Jag Mandir - the palace in the lake. Other options to add your visit are the Jagdish temple, the Monsoon palace or Saheliyon ki Bari. Take a tour of the local market and enjoy some street snacks with the help of your guide. Return to your hotel to relax.

In the evening, attend the wonderful Rajasthan cultural performance at Baghore ki Haveli. You will witness local dances and the brilliant and humorous puppet display. Stop for dinner or return to the hotel for dinner.

Day 6: Udaipur to Jaipur

After early breakfast at the hotel, leave for the airport for your flight to Jaipur. Transfer to the hotel and leave your baggage before heading out.

Visit the City Palace - the official residence of the Maharajah of Jaipur, Hawa Mahal - Palace of Winds where the Maharajah’s wives would spy on daily life of Jaipur hidden by the lattice work screens and Jantar Mantar - a fascinating site with a number of astronomical instruments, dating back to 1724, including the world’s largest sundial. You could also visit the local market for some shopping and refreshments.

Day 7: Jaipur Sightseeing

After an early breakfast, visit the iconic Amer fort which was the capital of this state a long time ago. This includes an Elephant ride up to the fort. Then travel to Nahargarh Fort - previously the Maharaja’s tiger hunting lodge. You will get some wonderful views as it is situated on one of the hills overlooking the city. Get back to the hotel and relax.

In the evening, visit Chokhi Dhani - a mock Rajasthani village for a royal traditional dinner and Rajasthani folk music and dances.

Day 8: Jaipur to Agra (250 km / approx 5 hours)

After early breakfast, leave for Agra by car. Enroute visit Fatehpur Sikri which served as the capital of the Mughal Empire from 1571 to 1585 and was founded in 1569 by the Emperor Akbar. After check in to the Agra hotel, spend the evening at leisure.

Day 9: Agra Sightseeing – Return to Delhi

Visit the Taj Mahal at sunrise – a wonderful sight and one to really savour. A fine example of the fusion of many architectural styles, Taj Mahal was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan (1592 – 1666) in the memory of his beloved third wife, Mumtaz Mahal (1593 – 1631). It has been called “marbled embroidery” for its intricate workmanship. Your guide will provide you with the history and help you to see it at its best.

After breakfast at the hotel, visit Agra Fort - a UNESCO World Heritage site which was designed and built by the great Mughal ruler, Akbar, in about 1565 A.D. Drive back to Delhi in the late afternoon.

Day 10: Delhi Sightseeing

After breakfast at the hotel, travel to Old Delhi. On your way drive to India Gate - a war memorial commemorating the 70,000 Indian soldiers who lost their lives fighting for the British Army during WWI. Observe the grandeur of the government buildings.

Take a tour of the Red Fort - the residence of the Mughal emperors of India for nearly 200 years until 1857and old Delhi. Stop at Dilli Haat to buy traditional Indian items directly from the craftsmen.

Day 11: Departure

After breakfast at the hotel, check out.

Itinerary for this day depends on your interest and your flight timings: A historical tour of Delhi ridge and the site of much action during the the 1857 Indian Uprising/ Mutiny or alternatively, enjoy the opportunity to do some further shopping before your trip home.

Transfer to the airport to catch flight back home.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations are valid only when communicated in writing. Any changes due to inevitable weather or flight delays etc, will be charged additional, as those prices are not included in the current quote.

  • More than 30 days prior to departure: 25% of the total tour cost.
  • 29-15 days prior to departure: 50% of the total tour cost.
  • 14-07 days prior to departure: 70% of the total tour cost.
  • 06-0 days prior to departure: 100% of total tour cost.
  • Please note that there will be no refund either in part or in full for any unused part of the services provided in the package.
